The Roast of Lab Equipment

Our lab contains many useful gadgets and pieces of equipment that make our lives immeasurably easier. It would be impossible for us to function without some of these tools. It seems only right that we take some time now and then to say thank you to the equipment that keeps us employed.

Today, we would like to thank our very dear friend, The Micropipette.

The micropipette is a very handy tool for us. Although it may not be as loud and flashy as other pieces of equipment, it is one of the most important tools we have.

The Micropipette's specialty is measuring out liquids. Our micropipettes can accurately measure volumes of liquid as large as 1 milliliter to as small as 0.1 microliters (1000 microliters= 1ml). It's sleek design fits perfectly in the palm of your hand, it's detachable tips ensure that every use is sterile, and it comes in a variety of designer colors.

All of which are purple.

The Micropipette is very important in our work because we very often work with very small amounts of liquid and it is absolutely essential that the volume is measured out accurately. In much of our work, the volumes needed are just a few drops, an amount that would be impossible to measure out in a graduated cylinder. While other tools to measure out small quantities of liquid do exist, The Micropipette is helpful to us because of it's speed. Since so much of our work depends on the measurement of small amounts of liquid, having a quick and easy method of measurements keeps our projects moving forward. A micropipette can be used in just a few seconds with no fear of inaccuracy. Without it, our projects would probably come to a standstill.

Micropipette, for all the work you have done for the scientific community, we would like to present you with The Golden Mushroom and a Haiku written in your honor.

Oh Micropipette
Your skill measuring fluid
is quite unmatched
