Yeast

Looking back at previous posts we noticed that we talk about Antarctic Fungi quite a bit (seeing as that is what the blog is about) but we have not talked much about these fungi or provided many pictures of them. Today, we will amend that situation.

When most people think of fungus, they think of something that looks like this.

However, mushrooms are just a small portion of the fungus kingdom.

We don't do research on mushrooms. Instead we focus on single celled fungi that grow together in colonies. Although we do research on fungi from any phylum, a large portion of our research is focused towards yeast. 

Before anyone asks, yes you can make beer with it.
